Dear Form-teachers,
I have thought of giving you a letter for four years. I didn't ever mean to wait that long, I'm hopping bt some miracle that what I want to say has percolated long enough that I'll be able to say it in as clear and strong a way as i feel it. Well, this is for you Cher. I found this quote by Carl Jung: An understanding heart is everything in a teacher and cannot be esteemed highly enough. One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feeling. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plan and for the soul of the child. I remember very clearly a lot of what you taught me, down to the details of exercise and assignment, which seems pretty crazy to me since I don't have very clear memories of a lot of my time in Macpherson secondary school. Especially this year that you gonna living us soon. I feel so lucky to have gotten to spend time in your classroom learning in a way that had more to do with life and learning to really see, more than almost any other class I got to take. It was as if you sat down and wrote a curriculum that said : Learn to see things like an artist sees them. I feel like you gave freely of the understanding heart that a such a simple, unpretentious, chill way, and I've thought about a lot over the past four years. I really can't thank you enough of that, and I just wanted you to know how much it mean to me then and still means to me now.
I hope all's well in your life and your work and that you and your family are doing great.
With huge respect and much love,
Nisa.
