To me, my mother is my security blanket. No matter how bad of a day she had, she is eager to hear me squeal over my drama-filled teenage gossip, whether it’s about me, my friends or that cute boy in history class. She puts up with my mood swings, constant chatter and continuous requests. Whenever something becomes too much for me, she’s right there with a hug. Every maternal figure -- nanny, grandmother, stepmom, aunt -- should be recognized for the wonderful job they do in influencing us. Mothers teach us to love, cherish and respect who we are. It’s a precious gift.
